The second Lucan denial, that Peter is not one of Jesus’ followers, is made to another heteros, who the Greek makes clear is a man and not another maid as in Matthew (Luke 22:58). They might instead think, "I'll get over it it can't be that bad." Unfortunately, this denial can potentially interfere with treatment. While the first denial is made to a maid as in Mark and Matthew, Peter’s denial at that time is that he does not know Jesus, which is the last denial in the other two versions (see Luke 22:57).
